Got Wood!!!
Tigered - Quarter Sawn White Oak

I found a great buy on some white oak locally so I just had to buy every board they had on-hand.  Most of the boards were close to 20' long 4/4 clear select stock without ckecks or knots.  One of the boards (shown above) was quarter sawn and tiger striped.  I saw on a website somewhere that referred to wood porn...well this is it!  Great stuff and I almost didn't want to cut it because it was so perfect and beautiful.  I did, however, cut ino it...I would like to keep a couple of the pieces exposed to show the beauty of this stuff.  Anyway, project will be on hold until March because of the annual ski trip to Canada and, of course, work.  I will get as much done in March before having to put this on the back-burner again due to the worst time of year...tax season.  Yes, I pay my fair share of taxes; though I always feel like someone is digging in my pockets.
Fronzen Falls in the Canadian Banff National Park
Had a great time skiing...no broken bones or long-lasting damage.  I was introduced to a tree at Sunshine Village in British Columbia.  I had one of those moments when you are flying backwards and upside down and the only thought that comes into your mind is "...this is really going to hurt."  The tree was kind enough to leave about a 10 inch bruise across my ribs and spine.  It could have been worse.  So needless to say I learned my lesson and refrained from any more acrobatics.  Here is a picture of my father-in-law in front of the upper frozen falls at Johnson Canyon inside the Banff National Park.  He drank the water and told me it was great.  After skiing for three days from sun up to sun down I really didn't want to go on this 4 mile hike but I did anyway.  It was worth it but I didn't climb down the cliff face to taste the water.  My legs were shot so I took the picture instead.
It is good to be back home now and have an opportunity to work on building the boat.
