January 2007 - well I have procrastinated enough!  I am finally making strides to build my first boat.  While explaining this to several of my friends and family members I have been met with (what I consider) the usual expected responses...couldn't you just buy a boat...do you really think that is a good idea...the usual blank stares...and yes, of course, what does your wife have to say about this?

I always take these comments instride because there are a few who really seem to understand my desire and wish to support me...including my wife

By the way, this is what has caused all the delay in my progress.  My wife called me on her way to work and said something was wrong with the Blazer.  Turns out that the intake manifold gasket failed and dumped about 8 quarts of coolant into the block.  Spent about a month rebuilding the engine and all is well now.  Oh well, it did have 275k miles on this engine so hopefully it will be a while before having to do this again.
Time to clean up and get ready to build a boat.  I have always found it funny that most people (including myself) don't like to air their dirty laundry.  My wife tells me it is healthy to share the good with the bad (Psychiatric treatment is a passion of hers) so I am getting this picture in early.  I also wanted to poke a little fun at this situation as we have a three car garage that won't hold a single car due to the massive amounts of junk that we just can't seem to part with.

A couple of years ago I thought I was being wildly romantic when I bought a house for Dawn as a surprise.  Turns out that buying a house without your wife's permission is not wildly romantic...it is just wild.  So take it from me do not do this to your wife...EVER!  Anyway, I reminded Dawn that "we" bought this house with a three car garage so I would have a place to work on my projects and she told me to ask for her permission before I buy a house next time.
The plans from Glen-L have arrived along with the bronze fastening kit.  Here you can see Deck Swab number 1 and 2 inspecting the plans.  Both have informed me that I have to build a boat that won't sink (pretty good advice) and it needs to have a windshield.  Deck Swab 1 says that I also need to install "shockers" so that sharks and stingrays will stay away.

I wish I were a kid again and had their imaginations.
